No need to be sorry!

I, on the other hand, am sorry to hear about your laptop. What a drag to have it stolen! I hope you've recovered (I have no idea what I'd do but panic!)It will be interesting to hear what you've now developed. Starting over often results in something far better since ideas have had time to grow and develop.

The talk didn't disturb me -- except for the hospital part (I guess hospitals are something I strongly dislike. The smells, the memories, etc.) -- as leave me a little confused, which was probably due to my missing the point of the snapshot. On the contrary, I hope it's you who aren't disturbed by my lack of comprehension. I probably was in the minority, despite who I talked to.

I also wonder if some of my problem might have been some nervousness as this was my first Northern Voice, and I felt very much the newcomer, having just moved to town in July. You know, the new kid in school syndrome. That may have been something I projected on the talk, that made me doubly anxious.

I'll look forward to hearing you speak again, perhaps without all of that 'baggage' I brought to it this time.

Hi David,

Thanks for your comments on my talk. I apologize that my story disturbed you. I didn't think of it as an epilogue and I didn't expect a connecting of the dots - there are 25 years between the Cat in the Hat tale and the scattering of ashes in the 2005 talk. I had hoped the opening story could stand on its own as a snapshot. This presentation is definitely a work in progress and I am grateful for your post. My laptop was stolen on the way home from the conference and that is why it has taken me a week to compose my own thoughts and comment here. And since my laptop was stolen, I have opportunity to totally re-write this talk. Thanks for listening and reflecting back to me what you heard and saw. Again, I'm sorry.

Roland, this is certainly no reflection on you or any of the other volunteers, who did a fantastic job. I think it was perhaps that the first day was mainly the techies, who brought such extraordinary energy and ideas, that I was expecting the second day to perhaps be at the same stratospheric (or would frenetic be a more accurate word?) level.

I noticed the same drop in energy on day 2. Not sure what was the cause.

All in all, well worth attending. Had a great time mixing with a nice mix of tech people and bloggers (and techie bloggers).
