Hi David,

I just got wind of your move to Canada through sooz.com and it immediately struck a chord with me for two reasons.

1. I recently moved to Canada with my wife (who is Canadian) from Australia. Having worked and travelled all over the world I thought it would be an easy move to make, however relocating semi/permanently has proven to be one of the biggest changes in my life. Lifestyle, career and culture all seem to be cast in much more shadow when a move is indefinite.

2. I have been having an ongoing debate with a friend of mine about America being the smartest country in the world. While I concede that some of the worlds best Universities are located in the USA, I stand by my belief that by and large (unfortunately so considering the influence the USA has in the world) the majority of Americans are very poorly educated and that the situation is worsening.

I wish you all the best on your move, and if you're ever in the Eastern Townships of Quebec feel free to drop me a line.
